Englewood Wedding at Old Florida Outdoor Center & Gallery

We drove to the venue in her lifted pickup truck. That detail matters. It set the tone for everything that followed.

Englewood is small and unhurried, a Gulf Coast town that doesn't perform for anyone. The wedding was on Historic Dearborn Street, at Old Florida Outdoor Center & Gallery, an old wooden building with a fenced garden out back, palms, brick pavers, the kind of place that already has a life to it before you show up with a camera.

Seventy guests. Five hours. No excess. Just people who loved each other gathered close.

I shot everything on 35mm film and toy cameras. Film doesn't flatten things the way digital can. It holds light differently, warmer, a little softer, like something remembered rather than recorded. The toy cameras bring their own unpredictability. Vignetting, texture, frames that look like the edges of a feeling. That's what I wanted for a day like this.
